My Hungry Husband

Clicks introduced their Smartbite range a few years back and I have been a regular customer since. The range includes, low carb/banting, gluten free and no added sugar products. They also sell an extensive range of seeds and flour mixes, chips, sweets etc. I also own their Smartlife blender which I love. Since I am always looking for healthy snacks to give hubby, whether it’s for his lunchbox or if he’s just chilling at home, I took advantage of their 3 for 2 offer they are currently running and bought 3 things to try. One of them I have tried before and the other two I was not familiar with. If you haven’t read my Clicks D’licious Biscuit range review yet, click here.

Clicks Smarbite Oat Cookies:

These are one of the products I had never tried before. They are priced at R24,95 for the box and contain 14 individually wrapped cookies. I am not a fan of excess plastic but do admit it helps for portion control and packing into a lunch bag. Taste wise they are no sugar added oat cookies with sultanas. The biscuits have a firm texture and are not crumbly (which is usually a problem for biscuits without added sugar). For a low sugar cookie I would say they are tasty as the sultanas help to add sweetness. I also felt full after eating just one and was not tempted to eat more. I put them into a glass container and left them on hubby’s study desk. Not only did it look cute, but is a nice anytime snack without that guilty feeling. Hubby gives it 4 thumbs up out of 5.

Clicks Smartbite No Added Sugar Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts:

Source: Clicks.co.za

This was the second product that I had not tried before and is priced at R25,95 for a 75g slab. Sugar free chocolate is a hard feat to attempt and Clicks has gotten it right with this one. The hazelnuts make a huge difference adding flavor to the smooth chocolate. Milk chocolate generally gets its flavor from sugar and you honestly don’t notice the lack of sugar in this product. Hubby really enjoyed it and we both used to have 1 block after dinner. I have actually purchased another slab as it is definitely worth it, considering the price of Lindt these days. Hubby gives it 3.5 thumbs up.

Clicks Smartbite Tortilla Chips:

Nachos Sweet Chilli
Source: Clicks.co.za

As you may have figured out by now, this is the one product I have tried before. The flavor of these are Sweet Chili. They also come in BBQ and Multigrain. The chips are priced at R15,95 for 150g. I bought these because I wanted to make Nachos, but hubby made a good point – they are salty. I should probably have bought the Multigrain as I think they would be better suited to something like Nachos, whereas these are better as a regular crisp/chip replacement and I might just end up making some salsa to have with these instead of full blown Nachos. They are GMO free, gluten free and high in fibre. Hubby gives this 3 thumbs up.
