My Hungry Husband

Asian food is one of my favorite cuisines (besides Italian and Indian). The simple combination of sesame oil, soya sauce, rice vinegar and chili hits all the right spots. I didn’t have “Gochujang”, a common Korean ingredient of red pepper paste (chili paste would be the Thai version or Sambal Oelek the Malaysian). I thought I would just add chili flakes and see if my local Asian grocer has it, I will purchase it for the next time I make this recipe, which I found on Pinterest.

  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tb Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Tb Rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  1. Love these recipes. I have some Asian egg noodles, do you think they’d be good sub for the two-minute ones? Am I right in understanding that you subbed chilli flakes for gochujang/chilli paste?

    1. Hi Emma,

I’m glad you are enjoying the recipes. The egg noodles will be fine, you might need to add a little bit more of the flavorings/seasonings as the Maggi noodles are a bit lighter than a normal egg noodle and yes, I did sub chili flakes for gochujang. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions let me know!
