Husbo laughs at me because I (apparently) can’t pronouce “Mutter” correctly. He can speak Urdu and I can’t. This recipe is so quick and easy, you can eat it as a meal on its own, or have it as a side dish.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 small red onion, grated (using the large side of the grater)
- 240g button mushrooms, sliced thickly
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon ground coriander
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon red cayenne pepper or red chilli powder
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- ½ cup green peas
- Fresh coriander to garnish
Method:
- In a small pot, heat the oil and add the cumin seeds and wait until the seeds begin to sizzle.
- Add in the grated onion and cook until the onion begins to turn softly golden.
- Add in the mushrooms and mix well.
- Stir in the salt, powdered coriander, cumin, cayenne pepper and black pepper with the green peas and mix well.
- Cover and cook for five minutes.
- Stir in coriander and serve.
Tips:
You can add spinach if you want to up the veggies. This would go really well with Khuri Kitchrie.
